Task 5 - Animation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeOZ9lQBGgE

The model was developed from the section sketch, and relates to the words 'scale' and 'mechanical'. The youtube link contains the animation that explores the model.

Task 4 - Stair Sections

The stairs link the three spaces, upper, ground and underground spaces. The upper space has an organic nature, so the stairs linking this space to the ground also have curves, and have a woody texture. The stairs linking the underground to the ground level are metallic in texture due to the mechanical nature of the underground space. Also, they consist of alternating trapeziums, forcing visitors to alternate between left and right feet, generating a sort of rhythm whilst they progess through the steps. This rhythm is similar to the rhythm of gears rotating. The gear rotation atmosphere is further complemented by the spiral of the stair, and by the rotary sequence of entries into the underground rooms.
